Leader article Outside!
An incredibly forthright opinion piece on the rugby schism -here is a taste "The withdrawal of a number of clubs which had long been undesirable and faithless members has for the time being freed the Rugby Union from the grave danger in which it stood of being bodily captured as the Football Association was captured years ago, and turned from its original purpose. The lovers of sport for its own sake and of football as a game for the players and not as a circus exhibition for the entertainment of the populace, will be as pleased to get rid of these clubs as was Cicero of old when he succeeded in inducing Catiline and his traitorous gang to separate themselves from the honest citizens by leaving Rome."
"Whether they flourish or fail in their professioanl venture is a matter of no direct concern to anyone else."
Varia. Two to three pages of sporting news presented in short separate paragraphs (More on the rugby split)
