|About Charles Buchan's Football Monthly|
See below for the history of this magazine
Charlie Buchan was an England international before and after the First World War, and then became a journalist. Click here for a history of Charles Buchan.
The first issue came out over 50 years ago in September 1951. The first words written were "Our object is to provide a publication that will be worthy of our National game and the grand sportsmen who play and watch it".
The first issue has started changing hands for £85.00 and the magazines are becoming increasingly collectable - not bad for something that originally cost 7½p (1s/6d).
It ran for just under 23 years in 3 different incarnations finally ceasing in June 1974.
Charles Buchan's Football Monthly is a unique record of the golden years of British football from post war years to the dark days of the seventies - when the Premiership didn't exist and England had a team that could win the World Cup.
