|About Die Fussball-Woche|
See below for the history of this magazine
Strange I know to include on a site dedicated to British Football Magazines a German publication.I think it was the forerunner of the football magazine as we would now recognise it and it always featured lots of British content. "Die Fussball-Woche" The "Football Week" was founded by M. Noster and was first published on 24th September 1923 in dessen Verlag. This is the earliest publication that I have seen that resembles what we would now recognise as a magazine format.
"Die Fussball-Woche" had the compact format was published weekly with a clear front cover "look" so it did not look like a newspaper. It was of course printed on newspaper and was black and white. But you could say it looks very similar to the Raich Carter Soccer Star that was not due in the UK for another twenty-nine years. The "Football Week" has evolved in Germany to become the " New Football week", abbreviated as fuwo. "Die Fussball-Woche" has become very collectable in the UK because it carries a lot of English content and photographs on English teams that does not exist elsewhere. It is invaluable for when English teams toured Germany when no English records were kept."Die Fussball-Woche" also consistantly featured photographs that had not appeared elsewhere.
" New Football week" continues to this day.
